The Farm

The research farm is located in South Eastern Ontario. This is where all of the Rack Stacker brand products were developed.

I started studying nutrition when I was 17. I was currently in the pet indutry under the wing of Dr Zerowny. A veteranarian that has designed numerous feeds for animals. He taught me a lot of info in very short time (3 yrs) and little did I know I would incorporate that info into a future career (hunting).

The second time I was on the property I harvest a great buck, at the time I didn’t know how big it really was, and it changed my life.

From the Fall of 2005 I started designing our deer feed because feeding too much corn to whitetails can kill them. After being satisfied with the blend my buddies starting buying it from me.  Not only to feed the deer but to attract and hunt them.

The spring of 2006 I was working on my Food Plot blends and I invited a friend to the plots to see the results. At the time we only had two blends Sweet Success (Annual) and Superb-uck (Perennial) He had planted lots of plots in his time and was amazed at my results and immediately wanted some for his farm. Just two more products to add to the line up.

While leaving the mill one late afternoon  in March of 2007 the employee commented that I should name the products. As I opened the door i commented “Rack Stacker” High quality products for high quality whitetails! and it STUCK!!

That spring I was going to open a small Southern Ontario business called Backyard Whitetails. After further thought because we build Bat boxes, Duck boxes, and do conservation work we decided to call our company Backyard Wildlife Products. That July Backyard Wildlife was entering the hunting industry with full force.

That August I attended a local farm show to see what kind of business I can drum up. It was a tough show trying to sell to farmers but we sold a lot of product and had officially enter the industry. During the show I met a gentleman from Quebec that had friends in the mineral industry that use organics to grow livestock. Hmmmm…. now he had me thinking.

We had established over 30 dealers all over Eastern Ontario that first season and we had requests for our products across the province.

The winter of 2007 I was working on yet another product. I thought is was a great idea and that I should find a way to promote it, hence the birth of the “Mineral Fountain”

That same winter I was in contact with the gentleman that I learned about in August. Working on a formula together it was just a matter of the deer liking it. We put it to the test and was a SMASH HIT!

It works across the Country! check out www.wildcam.ca

It took some work but with the average rain fall, our 10lbs of mineral supplied will last you a year. We have satellite locations in western Canada testing our products and again they proved successful.

I got heavily involved with the Quality Deer Management Association. The more I learned about whitetail deer the more I wanted to learn. QDMA is where whitetail management is going in Canada. They have been practicing their philosophy for over30 years having tremendous results with the deer herds and I started to adapt to the Four cornerstones of QDMA. Habitat Management, Herd Management, Hunter Management, and Herd Monitoring.

In 2008 we expanded our line with Bear products. We have developed some great ways to keep bears on your bait longer and if you’re a bow hunter you need to try the Crib Funnel that  bear right where you want him so you can take an ethical shot.

in 2008 I resigned from my full-time job to do this on a full time basis, and a here we go…….

We expanded to New Brunswick and Sask with new dealers as well as picked up a new distributor for Eastern Canada. We expanded quickly.

Our product line is now available at Bass Pro Shops Toronto and soon to be Calgary. The Spring Classic was awesome and will only bring more success to customers in the country.

To further my education I took the QDMA Deer Stewardship courses available to the members.

The DS1 course is highly recommended to anyone that takes their deer management serious.

The DS2 course was more of a hands on equipment course, but also taught me about fetal measurement, jawbone aging, and antler measurement and it extremely informative and I highly recommend it. As proud as I stand, I was the Valedictorian of the class. Canada takes another Gold!!!

Annually on our  farm we hold Field Days, to teach you how to trim apple trees, Timber Stand Improvement (TSI) and Habitat Management.

We hold in class seminars to teach you how to use our products to your full advantage. Check out the events tab at the top.

We also do what we can to educate the kids on why the sport of hunting and sport shooting is important.
